The objective of orientation and signs at Kilen is to provide the information necessary for finding your way around and at the same time bring into focus the building’s own range of materials. By letting letters or motif reach the edge of the surface – or beyond – an immediate meeting is created between letter/motif and the building’s own materials. In this way we attempt to give the highest status to the building’s own materials and surfaces. The background, which is a dull white surface, becomes an instrument through which to catch sight of a name, a function or a direction.
The assignment is fulfilled through direct painting of the surfaces of the building or as a unique design on a standard signs system.
