tietgen college

Assignment: Artistic treatment of surfaces
Volume: Digital print on 4000 m2 plywood, orientation, signs, colour scheme and curtains
Builder: Nordea Foundation
Architects: Boje Lundgaard and Lene Tranberg

The artistic decoration of the Tietgen College is based on the college’s 30 corridors which are lined with plywood, in all 4000 m2.

The patterns we have chosen to use are Japanese. The aesthetics approximate a Nordic simplicity and yet the patterns contain an element of exoticism. Japanese patterns also contain a reference to the Golden Age of Danish design.

The curtains will be a series of vertically divided expanses of colour, in a simplistic graphic distribution. This makes it possible to infuse the individual habitats with different colours and to differentiate the rooms from each other. The curtains form part of the rhythm of the frontage.
